Class Structure
General Overview
The class structure below is meant to be used as a backbone for your classes. You have the liberty of making changes based on the class level or style. It’s a great starting point to build your lesson plans.
Class Structure
General markers we want to hit each class as much as possible:
Every student has connected in some way with you during that hour
- Correction – verbal or physical, hopeful that each dancer can leave each class with a clear note(s) to work on
- Acknowledge a victory
- reinforce a boundary
- Create clear goals/ collective and individual goals
1. Attendance/Question of the day (5 min)
2. Warm up (20 min)( Back to basics)
- Cardio
- Strengthening
- Isolations/Center work
- Pirouettes
- Stretching, splits
3. Improv/ Game/ Freeze dance/Mat work (5 min)
- (An activity that is age appropriate that is not stationary)
- TeambuildingĀ
4. Movement across the floor (10 min) (Technical Target)
- Practice skills
5. Combo (15 min)
- (Use of skills and movement in a combo related to discipline)
6. Cool down (5 min)
- Light stretching and movement
- Leave a few minutes to transfer to next class
